Adani Hazira's Liquid terminal handles specialty chemicalsNews added on 21-Jan-2014Ahmedabad : Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and part of Adani Group, a global integrated player, on January 18, 2014 said its subsidiary Adani Hazira Port Private Ltd has begun handling specialty chemicals such as Liquid Crystal Phenol. Adani Hazira Port, which operates all non-LNG facilities in Hazira Port, successfully handled its first consignment of Crystal (Molten) Phenol imported through the tanker MT. D L ACE , which berthed on January 16, 2014 and completed the discharge at 1300 hrs same day. The Port also received its maiden consignment of Butyl Acrelate Monomer (BAM). “We are proud to handle this specialty chemical at our Hazira liquid terminal. This will be highly beneficial in saving logistic costs to all south Gujarat based industries manufacturing phenolic resins, di-alkylphenol and herbicides. Currently, Hazira is well positioned to cater to the needs of the Liquid Bulk market in South Gujarat, soon, our port will also benefit industries situated in Maharashtra”, said Mr. Karan Adani, Executive Director, APSEZ. The vessel discharged 2005 metric tonnes of Crystal Phenol through a 10 inch dia. stainless steel insulated dock line into a special internal zinc metalized coated and heated tank. This consignment has been imported by prominent chemical trader M/s Mahi Intregrated Logistics Pvt. Ltd. (a subsidiary of Haresh Petrochem Pvt. Ltd.) and 1000 MT of BAM has been imported by M/s. Visen Industries Ltd. Adani Hazira Port Pvt. Ltd (AHPPL) offering to the South Gujarat Chemical trade includes 100,000 KL of storage capacity consisting of 50 nos. of tanks with tank capacity ranging from 500 – 3000 KL. The second phase of construction for next 1,00,000 KL is already in progress including separate base oil Terminal of 37,000 KL. AHPPL has presently 5 dock pipelines (4 CS and 1 SS) for simultaneous discharge of chemicals & petroleum products which will ensure quick turnaround of the liquid tankers. These dock lines are connected to the 3 berths giving flexibility to berth Liquid vessel on any vacant berth with each berth having 12 inch diameter x 4 nos. (Carbon Steel) lines and 10 inch diameter x 1 no. (Stainless Steel – 316L). APSEZ also operates ports in Mundra and Dahej, in Gujarat; Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and is setting up coal handling facilities in Mormugao (Goa) and at Kandla (Gujarat). Ltd., CHAs M/s Liladhar Pasoo and M/s ACT Infra, Surveyor M/s J B Boda & Co. contributed to the successful handling of the consignments at Hazira Port. |
